Ok!!

After the first download , a 1.0 rating appeared.Same thing happened to Shadow.
So our man (or better said our hater) tries to do something....What? I don't know...
Now I will address myself only to him :
My Friend , I don't know what you win by doing this but you consume your energy and your time for nothing...
I don't want to win nothing with my mods...not even a big number of downloads...On this site I know some people (that if I may...I will call them friends)
These know that my mods are good and they will download it regardless your rating...For me its enough.
I don't hide this to you but my mods are played by many friends...
On this site there is no hierarchy of mods , the modders are not payed , and we all work because we like it , your ratings mean nothing...
They are some foolish things a 9 year old kid would do...
I like Far Cry and I will make mods for Far Cry as long as I live...and I suppose they will be as good as the others.
To annoy you a little I will say some names of the mods that are very appreciated : The Night Shadows , My name is NOBODY , Cyborg ,
The Third World War and The Warlords. Some of them are still played.
You see that this version of Deadly Contract is 1.2 (so there are some other versions)
So In conclusion I don't loose nothing...if you put that low ratings...
You know the mercenaries from Far Cry have a replay "You mean nothing for me"
If you are a kid you will probably won't understand what I wrote ( it needs some brain to do this ) , and if you are a mature man
then I am curios what your kids learn from you...
Remember only one thing....Everything is payed after all...

There were five (5) members online in the timeframe
30DEC 23:18 and 31DEC 04:33.
ie between Deadly Contact being made available here at crytmods.news, and spider22's initial comment.
Of the five (5) members I have identified, I can safely rule out three of them.
But as I am not 100% certain of the culprit I will not be naming any names.
In the unlikely event they give a ONE (1) star rating in the future, I will then be 100% certain of their identity.

Giving a great mod a single star is not against forum rules, so I won't even bother contacting the individual concerned, as they are completely within their rights to abuse the star rating system.

I have said in several places that the star system has no credibility.
It is COMMENTS that are a true indication, especially as COMMENTS cannot be made anonymously.
I am sorry that this person has dissed spider22. Our modders are our most valuable asset.
I haven't been able to play Deadly Contact yet spider, but initial impression are great! Thanks again

and its not possible that simply a (spam)bot have done this? sometimes (by administrating a other board) i have the feeling bots try to "click" on everything which is possible or comes first.

Let the witchhunt began and ban all members for giving a person a low rating. Since, Tnlgg said the vote is anonymous, then there is no way anyone can be 100% sure who it was, despite that they say they can.

I actually download the .RAR version of it from another site and tried it out. It didn't work out very well and had runtime errors from the get go. I then noticed it here for download and downloaded the .EXE version of it. It seems to be working better with just a few program crashes to the desktop.

Fyi, I was one of those who gave Shadow's Last Stand a 1 or 2. I thought it was just plain bad and not worth the time playing it. I said so in a comment I left. If members are afraid to get low ratings for their mods or levels, then vote to have Tnlgg stop using the rating options.

I have not rated Deadly Contact yet, as I am still playing it. So, far it is a nice fun mod. At least I know I am not one of the 2 who might be the guilty member.

@lionel : The 1.0 rating has no relevance without an commentary.Putting a bad rating to a mod then hiding under anonymity its a cowards
tactic. This meaning you want to hurt the specific modder or all the site.
A true man will say its opinion and will argument it without hiding , and he has the power to recognize if he was wrong or not...
And a rating is not put because : Because I couldn't finish the mod , because the mod is made by X or Y , because its better than mine , because I
can't make mods etc...
This rating is an average of the data the mod has (graphic , feeling , game-play , sound , innovation) and all those argumented

Doing so the modder will know what he did good and what does he have to repair in the future mods.


@For Everyone : Yesterday before I put the first commentary at this game , some friends played the game. Of course there were some bets made :
The one that played said that he will finish the mod dieing only 15 times...I gave him 50.
Till the end of the game my friend died 250 times and lost a crate of beer. Then around 16-17 we watched the mod on the site and saw the 1.0 rating...
My friend said something funny..." Look another person that lost a crate of beer "...

@lionel_101 Thanks for your extensive comments on Shadow's "The Last Stand", in addition to your star rating. That is what we like to see.

The above thread on the Star System says it all: no good ever came of it.
I hope all further comments here can now be on the "Deadly Contract" MOD.

I think I finished the Deadly Contact v1.2 mod. I put in the 2 keycards, but nothing happens and the door in the middle of them does not open. So until some one tells me I am not finished, I am going to move on to another mod.

I think I have always enjoyed Spider's Mods, especially "The Survivor" and rated them High. I will probably do the same with Deadly Contact, as it had great graphics, no lags and I thought was even better then the oringinal FC PC game. I like the additional guns and the AI's seem to be a lot smarter.

Only downside was that it is short and if you don't mind getting killied a 1000 times, even on beginner mode.

Happy New Year to everybody!

For all those that cannot finish Deadly Contract :
There are 2 keycards that means , there are 2 men needed to open the door.
Because You are alone , you take the Crate that is near you and put it on one of the 2 pressure plates.
If you have the crate put on the pressure plate and the keycard in , a green light will appear . Now go to the other Keycard console and stay on the pressure plate and put the keycard in...the door will open.

Hmm...I ask myself what will you do in Half Robots...there are more security systems and puzzles to solve.

Thanks Spider for the detailed solution. I think just saying use the crate would have been enough for us to think about it and figure it out.

I actually was looking around for a friendly AI person that I would have to push onto the mat and then use the cards, but couldn't find one without getting blasted..LOL

Very good mod. Maybe you should get a job with Ubisoft and develop a new 20+ level mod of the original Farcry game for the PC..

I mentioned in one of my comments above about getting the runtime errors as well, when I used the mod store in RAR format from another site. Once I downloaded the mod stored in EXE format from here, the problem went away. Don't know if this will help you any.

I had the same problem as modsuki.

The problem occurs on shooting down the first helicopter. Megaupload, rapidshare and exe from crymods.news all cause the same problem.

Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 fixed it for me, thanks for the tip VC.

i didn't have this problem, so I must already have Visual C++.
On the other hand I got blown across the map when I destroyed the second or third helo on my second run thru. Happens sometimes. Especially in PX.44 (of which there seem to be pieces incorporated into this mod).

It was funny - you should have seen me picking up the books and putting them in the copier, picking up the books and phones and putting them on the pressure plates like electronic offerings to the gods, picking up the chair and finally realizing the box/crate was sitting there - obviously! What an idiot I am!
Still, there should be a prize for the first person to make it all the way thru this mod where God = 0.
I also would like NVGs as it is very dark on my machine. Even tho I have the gamma up a little so I can see, I can't get a picture in that light range - see my attempt to pic the blue toilet paper - it's too dark too see! I'm going to add a small Devmode.lua to see if I can add NVGs.

I play everything in Godmode. That way I don't have to mess with the various quicksave patches that don't always work. My goal is to finish a map with God=0. Saves time and frustration.

It is a present for all my friends on this site .
About Half Robots I can say that it has 12 maps and this mod gave me much trouble...I am at the last two maps that I had to remake a lot of times...

Almost all of them. Still haven't beat Cliffside in the Tor mod (can't kill what I can't see), still haven't beaten Crazy Beach but I am improving, and some of the rll maps which I just abandoned as unworthy.
On the player made maps there are usually no auto saves, so if you get killed you have to start the whole map over. Poor design. Some maps also have a "ride" that you cannot defend yourself from. To get killed on those is also poor design.

If you get the R6025 runtime error, you can try vc's solution and update your Microsoft Visual C++ 2010.

Original workaround I used was to get allweapons cheat and 999ammo for rocket launcher. Noclip backwards from the stating point to where the two helicopters are waiting to spawn, and take them out there with the RL. I had to do this ten times before I could shoot the heli and avoid the runtime crash.
Then make sure you get to the first savepoint without dying or you will have to do it all over again.
If you enjoy a challenge, you can re-enable quicksave.

which update i would need? btw, i have a "normal" farcy could not read memory crash if i shoot to the heli. i'll maybe try the no clip hint and try to kill the pilot.

i hope spider can find the failure. its a shame that a mod with that amount of stuff terminates himself after the first 50 meter ;(

Some comments , If I may :

The Last level of difficulty ( the one that has God Mode ) has the AI set to maximum.So because if this ... the AI is stronger.
On the first level of difficulty , easy , I finished the mod , only being killed once at the second level (I finished the mod in about 4 hours)...
On this site the majority of the remaining players use DEVMODE , console and all the available cheats...
If you do not let them , use cheats etc then the mod is not appreciated.
Shadow tried to take out the possibility of using DEVMODE and you saw what happened to the mod...

The problem with the Hely: My idea is that you cannot bring down a Hely with a gun. So...Helys have a higher life (1500)...So that's why you need
to shoot the Mercenary...After the death of Mercenary the Hely is no longer necessary so It needs to be destroyed.
I made a optimized version of this mod and the Hely has 150 life ( So It can be blown up)
And I added a new level for my friends on this site...
...and for sure I will give the link for The Devils Rock to Tnlgg (with a delay , probably)

@pvcf If you play the mod on easy with a lot of patience , you can finish it without being killed ( in the given mod version ).

i played the mod on easy, second level in devmode with godmode; 202 deaths ^^
its because:
-AI sight radius seems to be very far
-AI combat radius seems to be very far
-AI agression and accuracy seems to be at maximum
-99% of the time i cannot see new AI which shooting me and rised up the godmode counter because its to dark and they to far away
-especially in first level it seems the "hide" function of most buildings does not work or is not checked
-i often feel AI is spawning in back of the player

not for me :/ first level 162, second 202 death's.

btw i ofcourse shooted on the heli pilots, and the first one cause game crash. the second one was also eleminated with noclip, but all other helis have worked and could blown away by gunners death or by explosion without any problems.

oh i personally hate it to use this but after the first 20 deaths on the first view meters without seeing a single AI ... i was frustrated but i was curious to see the level with godmode my deathcounter raised in 10 seconds from 0 to 20 after loading the third checkpoint in first level.
(wall / stairs). it seems AI can see trough the walls.

I played it in the easy mode and thought it was almost like in the realistic mode. The mercs killed you in a few shots, but you had to empty almost a whole clip into just one of them, unless it was a headshot.

It was funny, that when swimming under water to the ladder, they saw me and were alerted and the snipers were firing away at me. I agreed with pvcf comments, that they could see you and start firing at you, way before you could even see them. Not to mention the mercs seeing and killing you thru the bushes, when you can't see them, a standard function in FC.

It might have been easy for Spider to play, since he desgined the mod . I spent a lot of time on my belly.

there is almost no code for difficulty modes in original farcry regarding the AI, (atleast i did not found one).
there is ONLY a option for making pickups availible for different difficulty modes ^^
i'll complete redesign that in my mod opcl.

Don't shoot to the gunner in the second helicopter!

If I shoot to the gunner - the game has an error (crash).
If I shoot to the heli (not to the gunner) - heli explodes. Only, it needs many bullets.
Only with the second heli is the problem.
WinXP SP3, FC v.1.4 cumulative+1.41

If you will turn off DEVMODE, how I will be able to make screens so quickly?
In the game, I usually only use quick save - in D_C also.
But to find something, do screen - GodMode and fly are needed.

can't get passed the mesh after the left hand fan, Can see the entrance to the side tunnel but cannot get passed the mesh.

Have tried shooting, grenades, and the rocket launcher, What am I doing wrong? Three days and still trying. Wouldn't care if the mod was lousy but it's a cracker and I hope to finish it if I can get some advice.

Great mod Spider, thanks to you and others Far Cry 1 is certainly still alive. Let's hope FC3 brings us back though doubt it very much from the trailers.

Anyway help !!!

I can't get past the bridge in DC1. Destroy the two helicopters with ease, go up and down the elevator to chuck a few grenades but can't get past the hoard of guards and those two b*****ds with the rocket launchers. Had loads of them falling over the edge but still can't get past them. Climbed everywhere imaginable including the opposite bank to take out the two missile luanchers but get killed every time.

I must be missing something.

I got the bridge without big problems, may be because I used quick_save.
But I think it is an easier way - under the bridge there is a second one, small bridge ...there I have not tried.

Keeps crashing during/after shooting down the helicopter.Gave up on this crap

downloaded the latest Microsoft c++ thing no difference.....to much hasle.

Mods should be installed and played without having to dance around like this.


Looks like an excellent mode......don't have the patience for this

I'll just say I had the a similar "kill heli, kill game" problem (game would lock uo)often in "devils_island" SP level when using hand held weapons. I changed my concept and went for the patrol boat (gotta kill the occupants first)and shot the heli with mounted RL - SUCCESS!
Strange how a choice of weapon could make such a difference!

I just downloaded and tried the mod and have a few issues/questions. I start in a harbor that seems to be exactly the same as in the end of the Survivor mod. Is that intended?

Apparently the only way to get to the first target is through this harbor (lots of attackers there, little cover when you get out of the water) cause when I swim the other direction I hit an invisible wall.

Also, no matter which difficulty I choose, when the mod starts Im in god mode. Whats the deal there?

It has a storyline that can be known by the movies.

The harbor is not the same one as in Survivor. God Mode its a new difficulty level , named " Godlike " for those that think the game is too hard. You can play without God Mode.

Feb 20, 2013 Played all 7 levels of the new release over about 5 hours on EASY using the F5 quick save button as instructed in the readme. The first 4 levels are hellishly dangerous. The last 3: Escape levels are a walk in the park by comparison.
The first 4 levels incorporate the previous Harbor and Control Center maps with 2 new ones. In each you will spend all your time prone and you can only tease out the enemy to kill them on your terms. If you approach any enemy that is not moving - it's like walking into a prepared sniper: they shoot instantly. Most enemies can also see and shoot through foliage - when I could not see them.
Forget about "clearing" a building or area - there will be new guys there when you return. FC2 anyone?
The helo explosions that used to throw me across the map have stopped.
Any enemy running towards you is probably a RL guy and can be mowed down as long as he is moving. If he stops he is the worlds best rocket sniper. Speaking of the RL - I cannot hold the cross hairs steady even when prone, and holding your breath doesn't do anything either. This makes my use of the RL almost useless.
OTOH, the 20mm grenades fired from the OICW have a wider blast radius, but cannot be fired using the OICW's sight.
Frags also have a reasonable blast radius. I gather this stuff is from PX44?
After the frustration of the first 4 maps, the last 3 are a piece of cake.

The entire thing is so beautiful. An amazing amount of attention to detail, it's just fabulous. The set-ups, the behavior of the A.I. - WOW!. Puzzles and tricks - like placing cameras in front of bright lights - just one example - a supremely well made series of maps.

There seems to be a problem playing FC in 64 bit. And don't get me started about Vista. But even if you have the original 5 CD FC (only that has the 64 bit version) - all other FC is in 32 bit. That can certainly cause problems.

Also, as has been mentioned, the new video cards can be rough on FC.

I tried this mod again, this time I picked realistic and didnt get godmode. Pretty hard cause the mercs are very aggressive, very fast moving and very accurat. But sneaking is possible, and for some reason after dieing and reloading a few times, I suddenly had binoculars.

But now Im stuck. My task was to get to a control center. I got those key cards, went back to the control center, flipped a switch, and I got a message "well done!", and now nothing happens. After reading through the other comments I dont think this is already the end of the mod. How do I go on?

Well, there are two vents in the big wall next to the control room, both with running fans that apparently cant be destroyed. Cant find a way to get past them. I managed to climb the hill left of the wall but that leads me "behind" the map.

Ok, never mind, it was probably due to quicksaving that the vents were still turning. Replayed from the 2nd last quicksave and now the fans are off. Thanks!

I tried this hard mod again and after reading the replies actually finished it without being killed a thousand times, but more like a hundred.

From the first to the last of 7 levels on EASY, I was mainly killing mercs from my belly and using F5 to save very often. The mercs don't seem to pick me up as fast and can't shoot me as easy. I found I had to also use more of the other weapons, instead of the AK47, P90 and M4 all the time. Especially the gernade launcher.

It took me about 8 hours to finish it. I am going to try the next hardest setting to see if it gets harder. I don't know how anyone can do it on the REALISTIC mode.

Great mod and hope he has more coming for us to play.

I played this mod again and same results of being killed many many times on EASY. I was determined to find out why., and think I might have the answer.

There is a file called Campaign.lua that sets the values for the various difficulty levels. Spider has edited and put his modified file into his mod to make all of the modes from Easy to Realistic to be harder then it would be in the regular Far Cry game.

I edited his Campaign.lua and put in the normal values for the Easy mode and the game plays like it should and you can play and enjoy the map without getting kill every 2 seconds on Easy. I am pretty sure if you change the values in the other modes from Hard to Realistic to their normal settings that Spider's mod will play like the real Far Cry game.

Be careful not to edit the Campaign.lua in the original game, but only the one in Spider's mod. Maybe VET can give it a try and explain it a lot better, if it works for her.

On Easy, I can now play the game without hitting the F5 key a thousand time and devmode. But you still have to use F5 to save the game at appropriate place, since there are no game save spots.

Even with this, it is still a very hard map to play, but you got at least a chance now to complete it.

Good advice Lionel, that will help everyone.
I am always grateful to modders when cry files and scripts are made available, the implication is that you are welcome to modify for personal use. Modifying difficulty, AI aggression and sight range, ambient lighting etc leads to replaying a mod over and over. And is a step towards becoming a mapper/modder yourself.

Just a comment:
I was just saying in another thread I had the helicopter crash fault.
Coming here and looking through I realise I have already completed
this level / mod - so that must mean I have changed something on my
system that is causeing the issue.
I don't get crashes in other mods so whatever I have changed is
somehow affecting the helicopter in this mod only.
Its very strange - but worth persevering - it is a very nice mod.

I have re-installed everything but perhaps I am automatically doing it
in a way that makes this happen.

Shooting the helicopter until it burns (but not destroying it) makes it stop chasing (but still shoots) - if you do that right at the start it adds to the game in a fun perverse way. Yo ucan escape but have to be careful !

I just discovered this mod had been expanded to 7 levels. Played through it on medium difficulty. I got killed about once a minute in the first run through. Subsequent run throughs is where you improve your tactics which is as it should be, so, no point in complaining about it being tough the first time. This is a great mod, lots of fun, great visuals with color and lighting, AI is great. I give it a 10.

After 4+ years since I made a comment that I couldn't play this mod, I have a much more heartier rig. And decided to come back and play some FC mods & sp maps that were published after I left.

Spider- I have played many Far Cry mods and this is truly one of the best I have ever played. Even though I died and saved a million times in this mod, I was amazed. This definitely tested my FC skills. I don't think I've ever had to play as stealthy or on my stomach as much as this mod. The layouts of the maps were awesome and I never experienced any bugs or weird stuff. And your puzzles, although tough, were well thought out and enjoyable.

I cannot say enough good things about this mod. Well done Spider! A solid 10/10 (and then some)!

Played and puzzled trhough all 7 levels. The mod is very well made, no bugs or critical execption errors encountert. Good detail and creative puzzles. If the number of mercs could be cut to 25% (patch??) then i could give this mod a place in my farcry installation. Now i can only play it with: AI to Player damage 0,0,0,0,0,0 in gamerules.lua (=godmode). Sadly for me...... I am not a professional player. But thank you, for your workmanship. I give it a good rating.
